Sarah Cumbers

Director

Sarah brings significant interest and experience in evidence based practice to the Board of the Evidence Quarter. She is the founding Director of Evidence and Insight at global safety charity Lloyd’s Register Foundation, where she leads a team that seeks to apply evidential thinking to safety and engineering.

Prior to the Foundation, Sarah spent much of her career at NICE, the UK National Institute for Health and Care Excellence, working across a number of roles and programmes including health technology evaluation, guidelines, and information services. Sarah led the establishment of NICE Connect – a major digital transformation programme including a data and analytics function.

Sarah has a PhD in immunology and has also worked briefly in medical writing and the health voluntary sector. She has two daughters and sings for a London-based chamber choir.
